On behalf of staff and Board, I would like to sincerely apologise to our parents and jarjums for what occurred with the afternoon bus service.
At 3.15pm, the school was liaising with the bus service as 120 jarjums on excursion were delayed due to traffic. We did not want to separate the transport of families with some jarjums going on the bus, while some jarjums returning from the excursion being left at school. We did encourage the bus service to wait however they were unable to. Thankfully, the excursion buses belonging to Concorde Coach Charter were able to transport most of the 230 jarjums home, along with the help of all staff. The jarjums were safe on these buses which had staff accompanying them.
I understand that communication with parents could have been more clear during this time and I apologise for this. Unfortunately, we were operating on limited options to solve this complex issue at the end of the school day. Our priority was getting jarjums home safely.
While I am assured by the bus service that they will continue to transport our jarjums until Friday 19 May 2023, I promise parents that we will do everything we can to personally communicate with you if anything changes.
Once again, I am truly sorry for the worry and confusion caused from this situation and I am looking forward to announcing our new bus service on Monday 15 May 2023. Thank you so much for your patience as we try to resolve this matter, Karla Brady CEO ... See MoreSee Less

Well done to hymba yumba staff for finding a solution and getting everyone home safely. Very disappointing rivercity bus service!
It’s definitely NOT Hymba Yumba a fault , not one bit , however the riverside bus service has a lot to answer for , I actually think there might be a bill in place making it illegal to leave any child behind, something to do with Daniel morcombe , how dare they do this to our jarjums 😡
Awesome job guy's 👏 give yourselves a big pat on the back 👍 our babies' safety comes first as you showed today 🥰
Keep your heads up, it’s not easy but day in and day out our Jarjums are safe and happy, you are all doing an exceptional job.
So much respect and admiration to the dedication of the hyis staff this afternoon! Love Yas all 🥰

Well done to the staff of hymba yumba. Bus companies behaviour is disgusting lately & I will no longer be putting my children on them unless it’s a must & the new bus company has started.
We got to get you mob a bus 🚌

Are buses running this morning as normal??
Hymba Yumba Independent School so can you please confirm that the bus service will be running as normal tomorrow?
Rivercity Bus service has chosen to not run their bus services this afternoon. HYIS is in the process of organising alternative transportation. All jarjum will be transported home- If you have the capacity to collect your jarjum from school please do- Please call admin on 3381 8134 to confirm. ... See MoreSee Less

Worst bus service in Brisbane. complaints need to be made higher as the owner is the one with the issues that keeps affecting the chikdren of hymba . He is unreasonable unreliable and should not be around children let alone still driving the bus. It's not hymba fault it's the owner of river city bus service.
Stop paying him for his unreliable service and drop him for good. 19th may couldn't come sooner.👌
The replacement bus didn't leave the school until 430ish. It was pretty full. That may be why it's late Plus there was no buses at all my boy is in prep and no bus was there. I waited at the bus stop until I saw the message from the school
That's terrible. What's going on? Have you got a replacement bus service since they are cancelling the contract? Just wondering how I'm going to get my daughter to school in the mornings as I don't drive
I understand it's not ur guy's fault however I wasn't home & found out at 5pm today from my son that my oldest wasn't home so where also was a text or call from the school of this ?
That's funny because my daughter has told me she saw 3 rivercity buses waiting at the bus stop for the students
My kids still aren't home!!

I’m pretty sure there is a law in place because of Daniel morcombe
