Co – Curricular Sports

Hymba Yumba offers a range of co-curricular activities that extend learning opportunities for jarjums. These learning opportunities are designed to connect the jarjums with real-world experiences.

Essentially our co-curricular activities are designed around our school’s vision of inspiring Jarjums to learn and lead in both worlds. Examples of such co-curricular activities are Springboard Diving, Scuba Diving, Sprint Training and Basketball training.

Sporting Competitions

Sports forms a major part of our co-curricular offerings. We have partnered with neighbouring schools to provide jarjums with an opportunity to have friendly competitions in sports such as basketball, touch football, rugby league and volleyball.

Year 4 – 6 jarjums compete in soccer and netball as part of the Greater Springfield Primary School Sports (GSPSS) Gala Days. These are conducted towards the end of Term 2 each year and are very popular amongst the jarjums.

Senior School students will compete in the 2021 Basketball Queensland competition for the very first time under the coaching and guidance of Brian Kerle Basketball Academy. A selection of high school jarjums will also be training in partnership with The Murri School as part of a First Nations Rugby League team.
