Student Wellbeing

Student Wellbeing

Student Wellbeing at Hymba Yumba is informed by the Australian Student Wellbeing Framework and its five key elements of:

Leadership
Inclusion
Student Voice
Partnerships
Support

The Senior School operates on a vertical house system, wherein jarjums attend roll call and wellbeing lessons in a class which is made up of students from all year levels.

Each House Group (Jagera, Yuggera and Ugarapul) has a House Co-ordinator who provides wellbeing support for jarjums and aims to establish positive relationships with families and community.

In line with the Mparntwe Declaration it is recognised that education is vitally important in the promotion of physical, social, emotional, intellectual, moral and spiritual wellbeing of jarjums. Hymba Yumba strives to provide opportunities for jarjums to develop holistically.

Jarjums are empowered to take ownership of their own wellbeing through weekly wellbeing lessons and through daily morning check-ins in the Junior School. Senior School jarjums undertake weekly lessons in the following topics to help foster skills and promote wellbeing:
– Resilience
– Engagement
– Self Awareness
– Peer Support
– Empathy
– Connection
– Teamwork
– Service

By providing jarjums with the opportunity to develop and enhance their wellbeing, it is hoped they will become leaders in the school and community and inspire others to follow in their footsteps.
